SURVEY: Should dogs be allowed in Bethlehem Town parks?

Dec 30, 2017

Friends of Bethlehem Parks and Recreation (FBPR) wants your input as we develop recommendations for updating Town park dog policies. The Dogs in Bethlehem Town Parks Community Survey should take 5 minutes or less to complete, but please don't delay  -- it closes January 31..

Choose the option to provide your email address, and we’ll enter you into a random drawing for a $25 Shop Bethlehem gift card, courtesy of FBPR. (One submission per email address, please; multiple submissions will not increase your chance of winning.)

This survey is not just for dog owners — the goal is to enhance the park experience for dog owners and their dogs, while keeping our Town parks clean and safe for all park patrons.

Your responses will be anonymous unless you wish to provide your email address. Results are confidential; FBPR will aggregate and publicly report research findings, but no responses will be publicly associated with any respondent. FBPR will take results into consideration when making recommendations to the Town, however, we do not dictate Town policy, and the Bethlehem Parks and Recreation Department and Town Board are not required to abide by survey results or to follow our recommendations.

Thanks in advance for your input — see you at the parks!

Bethlehem Celebrates "I Love My Park Day" at Town Hall

May 08, 2017

Once again, the weather cleared for “I Love My Park Day” on the first Saturday in May. Bethlehem's fourth annual "I Love My Park Day" event took place at Town Hall.   Volunteers, Town staff and the capable crew from Pettinellli & Associates installed a beautiful new red, white and blue playground. Meanwhile, outside the construction area, volunteers of all ages – including local Girl Scouts and Town Hall neighbors – weeded, raked, trimmed and planted flowers. What a difference a morning can make!

The Friends board is deeply grateful to M&T Bank for being our corporate sponsor for a fourth year and to those who provided generous in-kind donations -- Hewitt’s Garden Center (Glenmont) and Hannaford (Delmar).  We would also like to thank the Parks & Trails New York, Pettinelli & Associates, members of the Bethlehem Police Officers' Union, and the Town of Bethlehem for their guidance, hard work, materials, and equipment.  But most of all we want to thank every “I Love My Park Day” volunteer who participated. What a great group of people!

"I Love My Park Day" is a statewide event coordinated by Parks & Trails New York. Saturday's sixth annual "I Love My Park Day" was celebrated at over 125 locations throughout New York State, with volunteer efforts coordinated by local friends groups.

Please join us next year on the first Saturday in May for “I Love My Park Day” 2018!
